Men Enjoying Nudity
TNTMEN is proud and pleased to sign on to the Canadian AIDS Treatment Information Exchange's (CATIE) UNDETECTABLE = UNTRANSMITTABLE statement. As community leaders who promote sex-positive events, body pride and sexual health awareness, we recognize the responsibility and the duty to share the most up to date sexual health information and policy with our members and guests.
What this statement endorses is a body of scientific research from 2008 to the present that has established that those living with HIV and who have been on antiretroviral therapy for 6 months or longer are functionally unable to transmit HIV to a partner. We further recognize that stigma against HIV+ men, women and trans folk has been at the heart of what is driving ongoing infections, and that a holistic approach to sexual health and wellness in our community means acknowledging this openly and freely.
We continue to recommend low to no risk transmission encounters for those who are concerned about transmission of STD's of any kind, and always support the use of condoms and lube, most particularly when status has not been discussed or established. We continue to support penetrative anal sex as a private, rather than a public act, most particularly in light of the lag between the science and the law here in Ontario. We support all members of our community and beyond in making informed, respectful and pleasurable choices around sex and sexuality without the fear of stigma and rejection.
