(The following are reprints of articles about Cap d'Agde. These originally appeared in the TNT!MEN Exposed, March 2004 issue, but in fact were never published due to computer publishing problems at the time.)
In 1956 considered to be a small naturist campground, Cap d'Agde today is a naturist city and a model for international developers. During the summer it can host more than forty thousand inhabitants and visitors, drawing people from all corners of the globe, and from all walks of life. Yet there
is a little known secret, which often plagues the straight naturist
community. When it gets dark, many locals, as well as many frequent residents, do get dressed to go out for dinner and evening fun. They claim it is because it's getting far too cool, yet how cool can one really be, when temperatures sore into the thirty degree centigrade, without little wind.
Only first timers and often those from the gay nudist community venture out void of any textiles during evening hours, to the often somewhat disapproving glances of the locals. The only place where clothing is not permitted are on the beaches, but than again, very few go there during the evening hours, if permitted at all.
The other problem the area has, is that in fact it has two sections, the naturist part and the 'textile' part. And this is where visitors can easily be confused by the enticing commercials, which tend to draw people to the non naturist area, for far reduced prices, while during their actual vacations, they end up looking in, on what they came for to begin with. But once you know the facts, there truly is no other place like it, and certainly not on the magnitude of Cap d'Agde. Every self respecting
naturist/nudist should at least once in their lifetime make the pilgrimage to experience life without textiles
